Liz Brannon, Katherine Egan, Rose Martin, and Ryan Quinn represented the MV lab at this years Spring NEERS meeting. Both Liz and Rose helped with meeting organization and each chaired a session. Rose also gave a talk titled "Against the Tide: How will Coastal Marshes Respond to Sea Level Rise and Algal Blooms?" and Liz presented a poster titled "Taking the Picarro G2508 and the New Soil Flux Processor to the Edge ... of Sewage. Both Katherine and Ryan volunteered as AV assistants. Katherine also presented a poster titled "Greenhouse Gas Emissions Across Salt Marsh Zones in Waquoit Bay, Massachusetts, USA: Testing Relationships to Plant and Environmental Parameters." We were joined by our honorary lab member Caleb Martin, a Ph.D. candidate from the University of Connecticut, and Karrin Alstad, an Application Scientist at Picarro. What a successful meeting!
MV Lab members Rose Martin, Katherine Egan, and Liz Brannon started a URI Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists. The club was officially recognized by URI and is now in the process of receiving recognition from the International Society of Wetland Scientists. Rose Martin was also elected as the student representative for the International Society of Wetland Scientists. Congrats Rose! Rose Martin and Liz Brannon are working with Kenny Raposa and Autumn Oczkowski to plan the Spring NEERS Meeting. The meeting will be held at the DeWolf Tavern in Bristol RI on April 16th - 18th. Rose, Liz and Dr. MV will be presenting at the conference. |
