Demerise Johnston, a senior at URI is recipient of the 2014 Richard D. Wood Academic Achievement Award in Biological Sciences for her molecular work in the MV lab under the guidance of Dr. MV and Rose Martin. Thats a great way to end your URI career, Demerise!
Melanie Gárate has been awarded two fellowships: The 2014 Nature Conservancy URI Marine award and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. With these fellowships, she will collaborate with the NOAA Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Puerto Rico to study nutrient and crab impacts on the biogeochemistry of a fringe mangrove.
